Frequently Asked Questions

We've answered some common questions below. If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out.

Getting Started

How do I get started with Living Hope? Getting started is simple. You can schedule an appointment by contacting our Clinical Director via our booking page to determine therapist fit, availability, and insurance.

Do I need a referral to begin therapy? No referral is required. You can schedule therapy directly with us without going through another provider.

What can I expect in the first session? Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist and share what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your goals, answer any questions you have, and collaborate on a plan moving forward. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with.

Therapy & Approach

What types of therapy do you offer? Our clinicians use evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, EMDR (with select providers), and skills-based strategies to support emotional regulation, insight, and growth.

How do I know which therapist is right for me? Finding the right fit matters. We encourage you to review our Meet the Team page to learn more about each clinician’s style and areas of focus. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help match you with a therapist based on your needs and preferences.

Do you offer therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction? Yes. Our therapists support individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, behavioral addictions, and related challenges. We approach each concern with compassion and individualized care.

Sessions & Logistics

Do you offer in-person or virtual therapy? We do not offer in-person sessions. We offer virtual therapy sessions for clients throughout New York State (and in New Jersey and Florida). Telehealth allows for flexible, accessible care from the comfort of your own space.

How long are therapy sessions? Standard sessions are typically 53 minutes unless otherwise discussed with your therapist.

How often will I meet with my therapist? Session frequency depends on your needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time in collaboration with their therapist.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance? We are in-network with several major insurance plans. A full list of accepted insurances is available on our Insurance & Rates page.

Do you accept out-of-network benefits? Yes. If we are not in-network with your insurance, we can provide superbills to support out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee options? Sliding scale availability varies by provider. Please contact us if you’d like to explore this option.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Is therapy confidential? Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions related to safety. Your therapist will review confidentiality and its limits during your first session so you can feel informed and secure.

Is telehealth secure? Yes. We use HIPAA-compliant platforms to protect your privacy during virtual sessions.
